A countertop usually comes in sections that must be seamed. Separate stone backsplashes, corners and extra long sections require seaming. These seams do not completely desappear, but the resultant line is a negligible one sixteenth of an inch. It is filled with polyester adhesive, which cures to a hard shiny state. Seaming does not affect the performance of the stone. The visibility of a seam is less noticable on dark stones with small uniform grain.
